Educational Objectives

Objectives of Child Development Department 
The purpose of the Department of Child Development at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Tarsus University, is to educate child development specialists who are committed to ethical values; who can evaluate the cognitive, language, motor, social, emotional development and self-care skills of children aged 0–18, including those with typical development, atypical development, or at risk; and who provide services to children, families, educators, and society by supporting developmental and skill areas.

Educational Objectives of the Department: 

Graduates of the Department of Child Development;

  • Gain the competence to assess children between the ages of 0–18 who are typically developing or have special needs, working children, children in conflict with the law, refugee children, and children in need of protection. In this assessment process, they acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience to support the cognitive, language, physical-motor, social-emotional development and self-care skills of children.
  • Acquire the ability to conduct developmental assessments, provide counseling, follow-up services, and child-focused family counseling to support the families of children aged 0–18 who are typically developing or have special needs, working children, children in conflict with the law, refugee children, and children in need of protection.
  • Develop lifelong learning skills by participating in various educational activities with the aim of improving themselves in different disciplines and increasing their professional competence.
